Evaluation 1

Our first show was ok, there were minor problems but as a cast we were able to overcome them and work spontaneously so that the audience didn’t realise there was a mistake; during the party scene the music stopped playing and we used our initiative to improvise, also in the fellowship scene Jacob forgot his lines and there was a long pause before the following lines came in, which was my fault. Vocally we needed to be louder, especially during chaotic scenes this applies with singing and speaking because we need to be able to share it with the audience as well as ourselves, i feel like the reason this happened was because of nerves, but as a cast towards the end we were able to over come that, another result for this is because the positivity wasn't there, during the interval we were all very pessimistic, as we knew as a cast we were able to perform better and the audience were not giving us the right reaction we wanted to get in certain scenes. I felt that the second half was better than the first because the nerves went a little. While we were sitting on the sides as a scene was happening, i felt that more engagement was needed because we all seemed to be uninterested and look bored. The death scene was very effective and everyone worked to their full potential but at certain points the energy would drop, we weren't able to bounce the energy off each other or work well as an ensemble during this scene. Within the whole show a lot of times we held back on our reactions when we should of been free and bold enough to let it be and not to worry that our reaction wasn't need in that situation. Spacially, we could of worked better as we blocked each other a lot , even though Ben reminded us during the dress run that we should use all the space and balance the space, but because of nerves and not being confident we were hiding behind one another. On a positive note we worked well during our storm scene and we were able to channel our anger into making the tsunami scene intense, this could be because of our feeling towards the show, so we were able to channel that into the scene and make it look really good.
