Lesson 4

During yesterday’s rehearsal we started off with the yoshi oida exercise which is gradually getting better and better as we continue to run it as an ensemble. To begin rehearsal we ran through the opening children scene, which includes everyone and begins with some of us coming into the space doing the hokey dokey, leading into grandma's footsteps when Michelle is on Leanne's back, then into a romantic scene where everyone is in pairs and we run up and hug out partner from behind and that leads into playing 'it', creating two lines facing each other and shaking everyones hands in the line in a messy order, breaking into pairs and balancing our weight between one another until we lastly break and stand and stamp and put one arm in the air with our fists tight, we polished up necessary parts, besides amending things the run through was successful, following this scene next, was the party scene which wasn't to a high standard due to the lack of energy all of us had and this could be because the music was too quiet and we felt awkward and shy to work to our full potential, but as our director said that shouldn't be an excuse and we should be able to bring high energy to the rehearsal whether or not the music is loud. we focused on after the party scene, where all of us playing fellowship are laying on each other on the ground while everyone leaves the staged drugged up from the party, during God's speech she mentions seven deadly sins, we assigned each of the sins to one of us, Seven deadly sins:  i'm wrath, Callum is greed, Robyn Pride, Michelle lust, luke envy, Connor sloth and  Alison gluttony. after being clear with our deadly sins we progressed to doing an  action to suit the word; Callum and I were paired together and we were given the scenario that callum had taken money out of my pocket to symbolise greed and my reaction to the situation emphasises what my sin is and us fighting took us off stage. to symbolise pride, Robyn made a mirror out of her hand and began to groom herself and become very pompous. Connor was snoring on stage. Michelle ran up to luke and jumped on him, Luke then carries her off and last but not least Alison was left on stage with Everyman- Joanna who had her head in a bucket, Alison goes over to her proceeds to eat a burger and then waddles off. to make sure this was a smooth transition we went over this till Lunchtime. To end that part of the lesson we heard the song Benji and Robyn will be performing in the play. when we came back we continued with Joanna's, Sophia's and Benji's scene even though i'm not in it, it was good to see the progress they had made in the scene within the lesson and how well they dealt with constructive criticism and were able to take it on board and adjust all the necessary things.
