Lesson 12

The exercise was taken place. Ben surprised us and brought in a few barbie dolls which he assigned some of them to us, that would be used in the opening. Instead of including us all in the opening he split us in half and one half do the original beginning and the other half are creating a new beginning involving the dolls, this decision was made because Ben felt the opening was messy because there were too many people on stage. Some of the movements made by the other half were used with the dolls in a creative way so everything linked and it didn’t seem like half of the cast had dolls in their hands for no reason as the dolls were used to represent us. The people with dolls were requested to sit in a semi-circle in front of the stage. As the rehearsal progressed Ben introduced a new rehearsal trick called the magic 3 which means we would go over something 3 times. The first time he would watch and not interrupt and make notes, the second time he would expect the actors to apply the constructive notes and still adjust some things as the scene progresses and the third time he would just leave it and watch and hope to see a change from the first time. He will start using this method with every scene he sees. To end the rehearsal goods went over their scene and tidied up on the dancing section.
